Quinoa Flour Brownies: The Ancient Superfood Gluten-Free Dessert!

Quinoa is an ancient grain that has remained largely unchanged for thousands of years, and has been rapidly growing in popularity due to its extraordinary range of health benefits.

Quinoa plants to turn into Quinoa Flour

Quinoa is an incredible superfood that is packed with protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It contains thousands of trace nutrients, and is especially high in magnesium, potassium, zinc, and iron, as well as an excellent low-glycemic source of fiber, folate, phosphorous, and manganese. Large amounts of two important flavonoids that have been shown to have all sorts of beneficial effects on health, quercetin and kaempferol, are found in quinoa. These paramount molecules have been known to support healthy inflammatory, cellular regeneration, immune system, and even mood boosting responses in the body!

Quinoa is also one of the few grains that contains all nine of the essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. This powerful grain is naturally gluten-free, and using it instead of typical overly-processed gluten-free ingredients can significantly increase the antioxidant and nourishment value of gluten-free food.

Quinoa Flour

Quinoa flour is an ideal solution for those following a gluten-free, vegan, and/or vegetarian diet!

Though quinoa is very high in vitamins and minerals, the phytic acid can sometimes prevent them from being optimally absorbed.

Quinoa FlourDavid Wolfe Foods® Organic Quinoa Flour is sprouted, which helps diminish the phytic acid and increase antioxidants, making the flour very nutritious. It can be substituted for half of the all-purpose flour in many recipes, and can completely replace wheat flour in some. Our quinoa flour has a unique, nutty yet earthy flavor, and pairs well with fruits, nuts, spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cumin and coriander, as well as herbs like rosemary.

We’ve been using it in soups as a thickening agent, and as a protein powder in smoothies, but our FAVORITE way to use this flour is in this rich, delicious, vegan brownie recipe that is PACKED with protein, fiber, nutrition, PURE DELICIOUSNESS – and will have all your friends drooling!

Rich Vegan Brownies (Gluten-free, Dairy-free)

Recipe by: Colleen Cackowski

Ingredients:

¾ cup Jungle Grown Cacao Powder

2/3 cup Quinoa Flour

½ cup Sundried Cane Juice Crystals

½ cup Xylitol

1/3 cup Coconut Oil

1 small Banana, mashed

6 TBS ground Chia Seeds

2-3 TBS Water

¾ tsp Himalayan Salt

½ tsp Baking Soda

½ tsp Baking Powder

½ cup Raw Organic Chocolate Chips (optional)**

Directions:

Mash the banana. Grind the chia seeds in a coffee mill. Melt the coconut oil to liquid state.

Mix all the ingredients (except chips) together in a bowl, adding a small amount of water just to make a nice batter consistency that is thoroughly combined. When you have a good consistency, if desired, add chocolate chips for extra richness!

Place batter in an oiled 8×8 baking pan. Bake approximately 30 minutes at 350 degrees F until a toothpick comes out clean.

Try to let the brownies cool down enough so you don’t burn yourself when trying to eat one! We love to pair our brownies with Longevity Coffee® Iced Lattes. Enjoy!

I made these! Thank you so much for the recipe! It was my first time using quinoa flour. Also I did not want to use xylitol because it makes me vomit every time, so I added maple syrup 😉
